Cuandixia
Nestled in a valley about 100km west of Beijing and overlooked by towering peaks with terraced orchards and fields is the crumbling but picturesque Cuandixia (often mistakenly called "Chuandixia"), a gorgeous cluster of historic siheyuan (courtyard homes) owned by 76 families and old-world charm. Cuandixia Village dates from the Ming Dynasty and virtually unknown until recently. Now it attracts people looking for the charming China of days past.
